Gary Crum, WBA President
Gary Crum, President/CEO, Western States Bank, Laramie has been elected to serve as President of the Wyoming Bankers Association for the next year.
Gary Crum and four other founders started Wyoming State Bank in Laramie, WY in 2006. After merging Valley Bank of Nebraska into Wyoming State Bank the bank is now known as Western States Bank and is approximately a half a billion dollars in assets. Gary’s history reflects much innovation and experience through 16 years of employment at KeyCorp (formerly Key Bank of Wyoming and First Wyoming Bank) and 10 years with First Interstate Bank. Some of his accomplishments include: commercial lending, branch and regional management, acquiring and merging banks, developing and managing the overall service and sales culture, overseeing multiple branches, installing in-store banking in several locations, opening new traditional bank branches, developing highly successful incentive programs, increasing deposits, increasing loans, reducing loan delinquency, remodeling bank buildings to improve community image and staff productivity, and merging.
Gary is a high-energy team builder and officiated NCAA Division I football for 20 years, where he had the opportunity to work 7 bowl games. Gary also played football at the University of Wyoming and was a member of the National Football Champion Coaching Staff at Montana State University. Gary has been the Past President of the Laramie Lions Club, Past President of the Albany County Officials Association, Past Council and Area President and currently the Western Region Chairman for the 2017National Jamboree, Scoutmaster and Den Leader for the Boys Scouts of America, Past President of the Laramie Area Chamber of Commerce and the Laramie Economic Development Corporation. Past President of The Ivinson Hospital Foundation. Past Chairman of the Albany County United Way, Former Trustee of Ivinson Memorial Hospital, Former Member of the Wyoming State Board of Education and Wyoming Banking Board. Gary is a graduate of the American Bankers Association's National Commercial Lending School and National Graduate School of Commercial Banking. He holds a BS in Finance from the University of Wyoming and an Executive MBA from the University of Utah.
